Dr. Lars Bode is Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (http://www.bodelab.com), the Larsson-Rosenquist Chair of Collaborative Human Milk Research, and Director of the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Mother-Milk-Infant Center of Research Excellence (LRF MoMI CoRE, http://milk.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Bode's research is dedicated to investigating human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) biosynthesis and functions with potential immediate and long-term benefits for infant health and development. As part of a network with collaborators from around the world, Dr. Bode's lab provides investigators with purified HMOs for in vitro and in vivo efficacy studies and also uses a high-throughput platform to analyze HMO composition in dozens of milk samples for smaller pilot studies or hundreds to thousands of milk samples for large national or multinational mother-infant cohort studies.
