Mary Kinney

Mary Kinney is a Senior Specialist for Global Evidence and Advocacy with Save the Children US providing technical analysis and writing support to global initiatives and to country teams in the African region.  She is passionate about using evidence in global and national advocacy efforts for maternal and newborn health. Global activities include supporting the Every Newborn Action Plan implementation efforts and Countdown to 2030 Drivers group. She has served on the study teams of two series in The Lancet and was actively involved in the development of the Every Newborn Action Plan. Mary has over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has been an author or editor on several global high-impact reports. She is based in South Africa and holds a Master’s degree in international relations from the University of Cape Town. She is pursuing a doctorate degree in health policy and systems research at the University of the Western Cape.
