Rafael Mena completed his medical school at Universidad Iberoamericana, in his hometown Dominican Republic. He trained in pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center from 2005-2011, where he has been faculty since 2012. He is Board Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He also works at his hometown where he is the director of the only Level 3 NICU in the country with the availability of hypothermia, nitric oxide and high frequency ventilation. Dr. Mena has pioneered Telemedicine in the Dominican Republic, allowing patients to have access to top notch subspecialty care at Cincinnati Children's. He has been published in different journals and is the recipient of the only outside of the US Buckle up for Life Grant focusing in car seat safety.
