Prof. Somashekhar Nimbalkar teaches graduate, postgraduate and doctoral students and provides clinical care to children in rural India. He has conducted large randomized control trials in nutrition and has worked in tribal areas of Gujarat to understand infant and young child feeding, neonatal transport as a Principal Investigator for ICMR grants. Over the last 15 years, he has participated as a resource person/faculty in conferences and workshops that have taught pediatric and neonatal resuscitation, ventilation, emergency care, etc. He was instrumental in developing intensive care of children at his rural institute and is it is one of the handful of Medical Colleges in India that offers both Pediatric and Neonatal Fellowship training. He was part of the team that implemented the Helping Babies Survive program in five districts in India in 2016-2017. He reviews for more than 25 International journals and has published extensively.
